Village of Belleville, Wisconsin
Lake Belle View Restoration
The Lake Belleview lake restoration project involved the restoration and re-formation of a previous lake impoundment including 94 acres of acres of water and 18 acres of forested islands. The watershed for this project is 172 square miles. SetterTech was part of a multi-faceted team of professionals who partnered to develop the project in a way that included not only the specific lake restoration but involvement from the Belleville community, neighboring communities, bike trail systems and updates to connector bridges and community parks. This project involved the review of 20 years of historical data collected by the Army Corps of Engineers and various engineering firms.
This data along with information gathered from the field and local residents was used to establish the foundation for this design build project. SetterTech personnel participated in Village meetings where their expertise was utilized to answer questions about the actual restoration of the habitat areas associated with the floodplain islands, emergent vegetation, wetland, separator berms. SetterTech established all vegetation implementation plans and establishment guidelines associated with the project and monitored the progression of the project as it moved forward. The restoration and monitoring plans developed by SetterTech have been critical in the procurement of Army Corps of Engineers / WIDNR permits and the maintenance of those permits. Throughout this process, adaptive management has been the process required to handle the ever changing environment of this project.
